    Women Only MTB Clinics

    New this Spring!  Start your riding season off with these dynamic and fun women-only MTB clinics, instructed by women. In a jam packed weekend, with 12 hours of instruction and riding, women will learn the fundamentals of mountain biking in a social and supportive environment. Both a beginner and intermediate level clinic to choose from.

    NEW! Due to an overwhelming interest for another Beginner's Course, we are now also offering a 6 week program!  Perfect for the Beginner crowd this 6 week course provides opportunity to learn new skills each week while having time to practice these skills on the trails. You will be introduced to the basics of mountain biking including bike/body balance, bike/body separation, shifting and gearing, climbing, braking and descending, wheel lifts, rolling lunges and straight-line riding (skinnies)...important techniques to mountain biking in the Bow Valley. Our 6 sessions will alternate between a skills session one week followed by a group ride the next week, allowing opportunity to master the skills learnt on a variety of single track trails.

    Dates: Program begins Wednesday May 12th and ends Wednesday June 16th, from 6:30pm-8:30pm, meeting at various locations in Canmore
    Costs: $154 + $45 RMCC membership
    *All participants will receive a snazzy new RMCC shirt, included in the program fees. Wicked deal!

    Please note:
    All participants require a mountain bike in good, working condition and a helmet. Bike gloves are strongly recommended. We will not let the rain stop us!

    Beginner Women-Only MTB Weekend Clinics

    This beginner clinic is ideal for anyone who is new, or relatively new to Mountain Biking. Saturday morning you will be introduced to the basics of mountain biking. During the morning skills session we will cover bike/body balance, bike/body separation, shifting and gearing, climbing, braking and descending. After a lunch break, we will hit the trails, where we will start to put our new skills into action. During the morning skills session on Sunday we will quickly refresh the techniques learned on Saturday then progress on to learning wheel lifts, rolling lunges and straight-line riding...important techniques to mountain biking in the Bow Valley. Sunday afternoon we'll  start mastering our new skills on the trails.

    Please note:
    All participants require a mountain bike in good, working condition and a helmet. Bike gloves are strongly recommended. We will not let the rain stop us!

    Dates: Two weekend clinics to choose from: Saturday May 29th and Sunday May 30th from 9:00am-4:00pm both days or Saturday July 3rd and Sunday July 4th from 9:00am-4:00pm both days
    Costs: $154 + membership (register online between March 1st-31st for 10% off the program fee)

     Intermediate Women-Only MTB Clinic

    Dates: Saturday June 5th and Sunday June 6th from 9:00am-4:00pm, both days
    Costs: $154 + membership (register online between March 1st-31st for 10% off the program fee)

    The Intermediate clinic is perfect for women who have some mountain biking experience and skill, but are looking to refine the fundamental techniques as well as learn some more advanced skills. During the Saturday morning skill session, we will quickly review the fundamentals (including bike/body balance and separation, shifting, gearing), before moving on to refine the techniques of climbing, braking and descending. After a lunch break, skills including front and rear wheel lifts, lunges and straight line riding will also be covered on Saturday prior to our ride in the afternoon. Sunday morning we will continue to master skills introduced on Saturday in addition to
    manuals and wheelie drops, before heading back out to the trails for an afternoon ride.
